The Reality Of Pakistani Media
Ever wondered why there is always so much mess on social media? Whenever you open up Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube, what kind of content do you actually witness?
Just look at the typical headlines:
"ABC content creator is set to get married."
"XYZ vlogger and actress are about to reveal their baby's gender."
"EFG content creator recently got divorced. Why did this happen?"
"A 70-year-old man married a 30-year-old woman—or vice versa. Love or arranged marriage?" (This kind of sensationalism is heavily pushed by outlets like Daily Pakistan.)
Such content gains intense hype every single day, pulling in views not just in the thousands, but in the millions.
Think about it for a minute and Ask Youself:
Does all of this define the purpose of your life?
Is this truly what you are interested in?
Is this what makes your day?
Are you working this hard just to consume this?
Does all of this genuinely qualify as good entertainment?
Do you actually find any of it useful?
No matter what is being pushed onto your screen, is this all you care about?
Is this crap really worth catching your attention and wasting your time?
You know what? This isn't entirely the media's fault. It is ours. We are the ones responsible for feeding the beast. We are so deeply indulged in this kind of content that every single piece of local gossip gets blown out of proportion.
Worse, we have a keen interest in interfering in other people's personal lives rather than focusing on our own goals. We don't even realize that we are throwing away our precious time on manufactured and a preplanned drama.
Why don't we just sit back and reflect on whether we are using social media the right way?
The Positive Side of Our Media Not 100% of our media is useless, though a major portion of it is, as listed above. Social media is also a powerful tool that helps us in vital ways:
Crime and Awareness: Many crimes are highlighted, driving public attention and demanding justice.
Economic Opportunity: People can run online businesses and earn a living right from home.
Community Mobilization: Local rescue efforts, missing persons cases, and humanitarian appeals can go viral in minutes, mobilizing communities to provide urgent help faster than traditional channels ever could.
Always keep in mind: We complain about our feeds, but we are the ones feeding the algorithm.
The topics you are choosing are needed to be talked about. You are doing an amazing work. keep it up
